Bozeman Council 1413 and Bishop John P Carroll, Assembly 3249
Our council, initially chartered in 1908, incorporates men from both Holy Rosary and Resurrection University parishes, and meets for business meetings on the 1st Monday of each month at the BCCC (Bozeman Catholic Community Center) at 210 S. Grand Avenue starting at 6:00pm (dinner) and 6:45pm for business meeting.
The 4th degree Assembly (Bishop John P. Carroll) is also based out of the BCCC and usually meets every other month on the 3rd Monday in the basement starting at 6:30pm, rotating to different social venues on the off-months on the same 3rd Monday. The Assembly's members come from KC councils located in Livingston/Big Timber/Gardiner, Bozeman, Belgrade, Big Sky and Three Forks.
Established as a lay organization supportive of the Church in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney - a parish priest at St. Mary's Church in New Haven, CT - the Knights have solidly supported the Holy Father, Bishops, priests and deacons, and all religious groups as a non-profit service and fraternal organization whose mission has been to provide aid and support for the spouses and children of a fallen brother, and to be of service to our parishes, wider community and the world at large.
Our local council members participate in the following programs:
Provide new and used coats for kids and adults in the fall and winter months.
Provide food to the local food bank and funds to other organizations providing meals to those in need.
Provide funds to international aid when war or natural disaster strikes.
Provide emotional and financial support to those studying for the priesthood and religious life through our Diocese.
Provide financial support of scholarships for young people going to Catholic colleges.
Provide financial support to organizations that support LIFE in all its stages as well as Marching at the annual March for Life in downtown Bozeman
Provide fellowship to parishioners at both Holy Rosary and Resurrection Parishes with periodic breakfasts and dinners.
Provide financial support to youth ministry and events.
Provide manpower and funds for athletes participating in local and statewide Special Olympics events.
Provide visits to sick and homebound members of our council and the greater community.
Sponsor quarterly blood drives (in conjunction with Vitalant Blood Services) at the BCCC.
Offer opportunities for members, their spouses, families and even non-Knight families to enjoy activities together including hiking, biking, dances, movie nights, visits to local attractions and parks, and much more.
Are involved in virtually every ministry of our churches including Parish councils, Sachristants, Eucharist, Ushers, Greeters and Acolytes.
Membership in the Knights is open to any man, 18 years and older, who has received his sacraments and follows the precepts of the church (attends weekly mass and holy days, receives communion and periodically receives the sacrament of penance).
